As our in-person and online communities continue to grow, we are seeking Lead AV Production Technicians to oversee and deliver high-quality livestream and video production for VTC’s weekly Celebrate services, Elevate spiritual salons, and occasional special events.
About The Role
The Lead AV & Livestream Production Technician plays a key role in delivering high-quality audio, video, and livestream experiences for VTC's weekly Celebrate services, Elevate spiritual salons, and occasional special events. This position is ideal for the experienced production professional with a strong working knowledge of livestreaming, leading OBS Studio workflows, video production, camera operation, and live event technology who thrives in collaborative environments and enjoys bringing technical excellence to meaningful community experiences.
Working closely with VTC's Digital Producer, fellow production technicians, musicians, speakers, and event teams, you'll help shape how VTC is experienced—in person, online, and through our livestream broadcasts. From overseeing livestream workflows and camera systems to troubleshooting technical challenges and supporting real-time production decisions, you'll play an essential role in delivering engaging, reliable, and visually polished experiences that reflect the warmth, presence, and spirit of VTC.
This role offers the opportunity to work with professional production systems while providing leadership and mentorship within a growing production team. In addition to hands-on technical execution, you'll support AV & Livestream Technicians through live collaboration, knowledge sharing, mentoring, and workflow development, helping to build confidence, consistency, and shared excellence across the team. Success in this role requires strong technical expertise, sound judgment, adaptability, attention to detail, and the ability to remain calm and focused in dynamic live production environments.
Key Responsibilities
Livestream Production & Broadcast Operations
Lead setup, operation, and teardown of livestream production systems
Operate and monitor live broadcasts for weekly Celebrate Sunday services, Elevate spiritual salons, and occasional special events
Ensure stable stream performance and resolve technical issues in real time
Maintain calm, consistent professionalism in live production environments
Video Production & Camera Operations
Operate stationary and/or moving cameras during live productions
Make real-time framing and composition decisions for speakers, musicians, and audience moments
Manage camera settings including focus, exposure, ISO, and framing
Oversee multi-camera visual flow and support live switching as needed
Support camera setup, positioning, and video routing systems
Streaming & Production Systems (OBS & Broadcast Workflow)
Operate and troubleshoot OBS Studio or similar livestream software
Configure scenes, overlays, lower thirds, slides, and media playback
Stream reliably to YouTube, Facebook, and other platforms
Monitor stream health, recording systems, and platform stability
Support media organization and playback workflows
Audio Production
Operate analog mixing console (Behringer QX2222USB or similar)
Balance microphones, instruments, and playback audio for in-room and livestream environments
Ensure clarity, consistency, and broadcast-ready sound quality
Troubleshoot feedback, distortion, and signal issues in real time
Manage microphone placement and overall audio signal flow
Team Leadership & Support
Provide informal mentorship and real-time guidance to AV & Livestream Technicians
Support skill development through hands-on collaboration during live events
Help maintain consistent workflows, confidence, and production standards
Contribute to a calm, supportive, and solutions-focused team environment
Required Skills & Experience
Demonstrated working experience in livestream production, video production, or live event broadcasting
Strong working knowledge of OBS Studio (setup, configuration, troubleshooting)
Experience operating DSLR/mirrorless cameras (e.g., Sony a6100 or similar)
Strong understanding of camera settings (focus, exposure, ISO, framing)
Experience with live audio mixing and analog consoles (or equivalent)
Ability to troubleshoot technical issues calmly during live productions
Familiarity with YouTube livestreaming or similar platforms
Working knowledge of Windows 11 systems and troubleshooting
Physical Requirements
Ability to safely lift and move production equipment, including camera stands, tripods, and related broadcast gear
Ability to operate production equipment from elevated control positions, as part of evolving production workflows
Comfort working in live production environments where setup and operating positions may change depending on event requirements
Contract Details
Status: Independent Contractor
Schedule: Sundays (9:00am–12:00pm) and Thursdays (6:00pm–9:00pm)
Rate: $35–$45/hour or approximately $105–$135 per standard 3-hour shift
Additional opportunities: occasional special events
Location: Victoria, BC
Reports to: Spiritual Director in collaboration with Digital Producer
Works closely with: AV & Livestream Technicians and Production Team

The AV & Livestream Technician plays a key role in delivering high-quality audio, video, and livestream production for VTC's weekly Celebrate services, Elevate spiritual salons, and occasional special events. This position is ideal for someone with foundational experience or familiarity in media production, livestreaming, audio, video, or live event technology who is eager to continue developing their skills in a collaborative, inspired, real-world production environment.
Working alongside Lead Production Technicians, musicians, event teams, and VTC's Digital Producer, you'll help create engaging and seamless experiences for both in-person and online audiences. From setup and operation to live production and troubleshooting, you'll contribute to the technical excellence that allows VTC’s message, music, and community connections to be experienced beyond the walls of our Centre.
This role offers hands-on experience with professional production systems, mentorship from experienced technicians, and the opportunity to be part of a supportive team dedicated to delivering reliable, high-quality events. Success in this role requires curiosity, adaptability, attention to detail, and the ability to remain calm and focused in live production environments.
Key Responsibilities
Livestream Production & Technical Support
Assist with setup, testing, operation, and teardown of production equipment
Support livestream broadcasts for weekly Celebrate Sunday services, Elevate spiritual salons, and special programs
Arrive early for setup, testing, and rehearsals as required
Monitor livestream performance and assist with real-time troubleshooting
Help maintain a calm and professional live event environment
Video Support
Operate stationary and/or moving cameras during livestreams
Assist with framing speakers, musicians, and audience moments
Support camera setup including tripods, cabling, and equipment preparation
Apply basic camera settings (focus, zoom, exposure) during live production
Support overall visual consistency and livestream experience
Audio Support
Assist with live sound setup and operation
Support balancing microphones, music, and playback audio
Help monitor audio quality in-room and for livestream, throughout events
Assist with microphone placement and basic audio troubleshooting
Learn signal flow and live mixing fundamentals
Streaming & Production Support (OBS)
Assist with livestream setup and operation using OBS or similar software
Support scene changes, graphics, and media playback during live events
Monitor stream health and platform performance (YouTube, Facebook)
Support troubleshooting of livestream systems and connectivity issues
Required Skills & Attributes
Some familiarity or exposure to media production, livestreaming, video, audio, or live events
Willingness to learn OBS Studio and livestream workflows
Basic comfort with Windows 11 navigation and system settings
Strong reliability and ability to follow direction in live environments
Calm, reliable, team-oriented approach under pressure
Interest in developing skills in video, audio, and live production
Preferred (Not Required)
Exposure to OBS, StreamYard, Ecamm Live, or similar tools
Basic understanding of cameras or audio equipment
Experience in school, volunteer, or small production environments
Interest in community, creative, or spiritual spaces
Physical Requirements
Ability to assist in moving and setting up production equipment
Ability to work with tripods, cabling, and elevated camera positions when required
Comfortable standing during events

Eligibility: Must be legally permitted to work in Canada
Rate: $25/hour or approximately $75 per standard 3-hour shift
